The storm packed quite a punch. We were trying to wait out the rain
in the dining area on the pier when the winds hit. As a conservative estimate,
I'm guessing the winds were in the neighborhood of a sustained 50-75mph.
At those speeds, the rain stings like hail, furniture is being tipped over,
and there are no dry spots anywhere under the shelter.
Making a break for it, I went first to open the van. Anna followed but experienced
wardrobe malfunctions as her skirt fell off (she had shorts on under it). It turns out,
Sydney waited with the rest of the group instead of following behind Anna like she
said she was going to do. She also didn't run off in the direction Wes claimed,
which I found out when I went looking for her. Everyone made it to the
van safely, but a little water logged.
