Back with a vengeance................

and now they are taking it out on the squirrels!

This is something I've never seen.

The raccoons are back in full force emptying out the bird feeders. But on this particular evening this one had a squirrel. I can't imagine that he was fast enough to take it out, and I know it didn't meet its demise via lead supplement. I have no clue where it came from or how the raccoon got it. I can tell you that it snarled at a deer that wandered in while it was snacking away.

The critter was in the shadows, the light off of the garage wasn't reaching where he was, so Cliff hit him up with the spotlight so I could get a shot of him.

Interesting... I think Raymond has a point. Maybe the squirrel was sick. Racoons are opportunists and eat anything.

The squirrel must have been sick and weak, his time had come and to give time to the others to run away from the racoon... Ever heard of the Buffalo theory ? Here, check it out:http://www.pbase.com/monminou/image/93876870

Wow, this is very disturbing! Wonder if it is due to your extraordinary snow and cold this winter? Is it normally melted by this time? Nonetheless, great and 'hopefully' rare capture!

Now that's something I have not seen. And given that I am overrun with both Raccoons and Squirrels where I am I am surprise to see this. Great find Tammie and thank you for sharing.
