We are here at Jeradeh. At two kilometers from Ruweila it’s “dead houses” seem to have integrated with modern dwellings in a strange amalgam. The Bradt Guide claims the main reason to go here is to see a tower that I will point out later, it indeed is somewhat curious. But I found the integration between the life of the village and the older dead houses much more fascinating.
This is that famed tower, the purpose of which is unclear. The “overhanging latrines” are there, but I doubt if they functioned as such. Pouring fluids down in case of a siege seems more logical to me.
