I revisited Hama on the day after the 2009 Ramadan, Eid-al-Fitr. To my horror my first impression, riding through its streets, was: this city is closed for the day. All shops had their shutters down, the streets were near-empty. Then I found there was a lifely festival going on with children playing everywhere and a small fair in the heart of town near some of the most well-known noria's (or waterwheels). I show the pictures I took as a separate gallery: they give a fine overview of Hama on its festive best. Don't let the fact that each boy (and some girls) carried a toy gun influence your perception: this was a festive day, we all had lots of fun. May the pictures be a reminder of better days, before real guns were used again.
