The construction of this building, which was used as the Hatay Governor's Office, began in 1927 and was completed in 1928. It is known that the architectural project of the building was drawn by an engineer from Aleppo and Beirut, and its implementation was done by local craftsmen. The financial resources needed for the building were provided by the Iskenderun Sanjak Administrative Council of the time.
The building has typical Mediterranean architectural features. The load-bearing system of the building consists of rough-hewn, rubble stone body walls and reinforced concrete columns forming the inner core around the courtyard.
