Gök Medrese before restoration

I here collect pictures from my first visit to town, in 1997. Earlier I kept these in the main gallery, but as I added more slides that I scanned in 2018 the collection is big enough to warrant a sub-gallery.

The Seljuk building was designed for vizier Fahr ed-Din Ali ben Hussein around 1271 by the Greek architect Kalojan. In the broad entrance area, right of the entrance, is a small mosque with fine tiles. There is a couple of iwans in the courtyard, and parts of a fountain that is to be constructed there also were lying ready to be used outside.
