Misis is probably a delightful spot for a day into the country. I happened to get there on a day in December 2010 when the rain poured down. The main attraction, the bridge, dating to the mid-fourth century AD, after several restorations, the latest obviously very recently, was indeed impressive (I have been informed it was restored in 1999 after the deadly earthquake of 27 June 1998). I wanted to also visit the museum, famous for some mosaics, but without high boots I could not reach it. In 2019 I found the Adana Museum now houses these mosaics, I read the Misis museum has been closed. The village at the bridge is called Yakapinar.
The town has a tumulus from 6000 BC, and was known as Mopsuestia (Greek Μοψουεστία Mopsou(h)estia), later Mamistra. At one point it had 150.000 (one source) or 200.000 inhabitants (other source).
