The rich Sabancı family funded the big mosque (the Merkez Cami or Central Mosque) that stands along the Seyhan River. Several people told me it is the biggest mosque in the country, and I have no reason to doubt it. I have seen it being built on a first visit to Dana, many years ago, and since I have visited the city a lot over the last few years I have seen how the surrounding area has been improved a lot. The mosque is now surrounded by a big park, that is improved all the time, and in September 2008 I saw an area across the main road flanking the mosque is being prepared, probably to create some more green grounds.
