On my first visit I had not been able to climb to the castle. This time I decided I would. There is no road and for much of the climb you have to follow some goat trails or just trust your luck. The climb was well worth the trouble: the views from ever increasing heights on the old town were impressive, and at the top the sight of the coastline to the west was spectacular.
Because this picture gives a good view of the city you can - if you press the "original" button for size (below) see it at a double resolution. In the centre to the left the great bath (with what remains of the theatre in its back), to its right across the road is a square building, the odeon. Left and a bit back to that you see a vault of the basilica. In the back of that and slightly to the left is the palaestra. On the hill to the left in the distance the necropolis. And in the far distance Anamur.
