People always complain I don't show enough modern Turkey. Of course, they don't have a right to speak, since I never signed a contract with anybody about what to show and what not. However, I sometimes listen to criticism, and in December 2006 I tried to find some modern Bursa. To my surprise I found some quite close to my favorite area, near Ulu Camii and such. About 500 meters further on, there was a sort of pyramid, which turned out to be the entrance to an underground shopping mall. I took many pictures there, as well as some on the outside. Some buildings on either side turned out to be part of the same complex. Plaza seemed to be the name of at least the central one. Which is Spanish for "square". Turkey goes Latin.
And yes, I know there is more Modern Bursa, in particular downhill, near where the old Otogar used to be (which has been utterly oblitared, it seems something Large and Commercial and Modern (and for as far as I could see ugly) will be built there. Well, some other time, folks.
