In the back part, on either side of the corridor leading from the entrance to the main room, are two much smaller elevated rooms, with wonderful tiles all around. Some damage is visible when looking up (has water somehow deteriorated the quality of the glazing?).
These two much smaller and somewhat elevated rooms were the lower section of the ‘Hünkâr mahfili’ (= lodge of the lord), a space reserved for the sultan or his representative; the more secluded part of this lodge is situated on the first floor, and has a balcony overlooking the prayer hall.

Without the flash you would not have seen the great colour of the green tiles on the lower part of the wall.
