This is a view from the Kale.
The Kale or fortress dates back to 1153, but that fortress was demolished by the Mongols in 1386, only to be rebuilt in 1579 for Sultan Murat III. Then, in 1855, the complex was built anew. So what you see has no claim to being ancient. Still, it looks impressive.
