Sitting relaxedly enjoying the quiet I was increasingly annoyed by some bells, but I thought: Oh, that herd is still a long way from where I sit, by the time I finished reading they may be here. Instead I saw the surprising speed whith which a herd moves: with little spurts, the slower ones envious that the ones in front may have the better meal, so running to get there too. It was an approaching front, and was upon me within minutes.
The dog took things easy: no barking at that stranger, just passing by, hardly paying attention.
