One of my favorite mosques, partly because of the majestic setting, on an elevated platform all on its own. Founded by Mustafa III, built 1759-1763, design by Mehmet Tahir Aga, "greatest and most original of the Turkish baroque architects" (I quote Strolling through Istanbul, Redhouse Press, 1989 - an excellent book).
This is one of some pictures I took at sunset. The central p;art of the pictures shows the protruding part of the building with the prayer area of the minber and mihrab.
