Samsun Archeological Museum

My original impression, when editing these pictures, was: Some golden coins. Late Greek or early Roman period.

The light in the museum was poor, and gold reflects, sometimes harshly. I got dazzled somehow myself, for when a viewer wrote they might be decorations - either for clothing or for military equipment, being inlaid, I took a closer look and now agree.

I will insert a blow up to illustrate - in the next picture.

Enamel inserts suggest these are not coins, but decorations - either for clothing or for military equipment (the Gorgon was a motif commonly used on armour).
