Amasya Special Mosque

view map

It was my last day in Amasya in September 2004 (I long to return I was joined by a group of kids they decided to enjoy the afternoon with me as much as they could. As a matter of fact, it was their last Sunday before school started again, and they told me they were longing for that. They joint me on my walk to a nearby mosque, and another, and a Türbe, and would gladly have shown me all other sights if I hadn't stopped them. They gradually got a bit rumbustious, and I later had to explain to them that a mosque was not a playground, not a ballroom or a karate training room. But we had a lot of fun.

They did know their routes and led me up a minaret I would never have found, belonging to a mosque that was peculiar because in it were many rooms for private prayer and meditation. This is looking down on the roof.
