Opposite the Green Mosque is the Yesil or Green Türbe (tomb) for Mehmet I. It dates from the early 15th century. This is a view of the mihrab.
This mihrab is about 5,40 m high and similar to (but smaller than) the prayer niche in the Yeşil Mosque, which has the same design and is also completely executed in delicate tile work. The murals above display another style: the 19th century late-Ottoman ‘Turkish Baroque’, which was influenced by European Neo-Classicism.
