Particularly at the start of the gorge, the Ihlara side that is, you can visit a series of rock churches, some of them with very good painting still in place. This is one of them, the Ağaçaltı Kilisesi or Under the Tree church. For years I kept an image that was more reddish in this spot, but after seeing other pictures I corrected to probably more realistic colours.
