Ihlara gorge (which actually is called the Peristrema Gorge) can be entered from Ihlara, high up on the rocks. Climb down some flights of stairs and then, on the level of the stream of the Melendiz Suyu, that runs the full length of the canyon, first visit some churches hewn in the rocks, and then follow the stream. Beware: there is just one exit at Belisirma, about halfway, else you are in for the duration, all the way to Selime, some four hours of walking. The latter part is much more quiet, though.

IHLARA

Ihlara Vadisi’ne (aslında Peristrema Vadisi deniyor) çok yüksekte kayaların üzerindeki Ihlara’dan girilebilir. Bir kaç kat merdiven aşağı inin, sonra kanyon boyunca akan Melendiz Suyu’nun akış hizasına vardığınızda önce kayalara oyulmuş kiliseleri ziyaret edin ve sonra Melendiz Suyu’nu akışı yönünde takip edin. Yalnız dikkatli olun, yarıyolda, Belisırma’da sadece bir tane çıkış var, orayı kaçrırsanız yolun sonundaki Selimiye’ye kadar gitmeniz gerekir, bu da dört saatlik bir yürüyüş demek. Ama sonraki kısım çok daha sessiz.
