Diyarbakır Building at east end Gazi Caddesi in 2025 0625.jpg

A notice explains: "In 1870, Kurt İsmail Pasha, then governor of Diyarbakır, laid the foundation for the School of Arts, known as the Islahhane (Residential Works), on land behind the hospital to house orphans and provide vocational training.

When the Islahhane first opened, it had nearly 700 students and offered art departments in foundry, blacksmithing, carpentry, weaving, printing, farming, dyeing, tailoring, towel making, shoemaking, carpet making, furnishing, and tanning. The school's duration was three years. During Kurt İsmail Pasha's seven-year term as governor, the school underwent significant work. After serving for a long time as an art school, the building was converted into an industrial school to train qualified personnel for the developing industry, and it began operating on September 21, 1899. The school's opening coincided with Sultan Abdulhamid's 25th year in power, and therefore it was named the Hamidiye Industrial School. Poor orphans were admitted to the school, and along with their primary education, they were taught the arts of carpentry, weaving, printing, towel making, shoemaking, dyeing, printing, and bookbinding. The school operated on the workshops' own income until the declaration of the Second Constitutional Monarchy on July 23, 1908. Later, when it became necessary to establish a Teachers' Training School in Diyarbakır, the building was given to the School. Over the following years, the building served as the Faculty of Medicine, Süleyman Nazif Middle School, Hasan Paşa Primary School, and the Directorate of National Education building. Taken over by the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2008, the building continues to serve Diyarbakır, in keeping with its legacy."
The part "on land behind the hospital" left me wondering where the hospital is or was.
