Mudurnu Yildirim Beyazit Bath june 2019 2876.jpg

In 2019 I returned, and found that many more houses had been restored. It will take some time for a proper patina to mellow their bright new looks, but then the town will present a fine view. I this time took a route where I walked along a hill leading to the clock tower and then down into the part of town I visited earlier. Several buildings there were being restored, amongst them the bath and a mosque. I present the new pictures in the order they were taken. The sky was very clouded and some rain fell, so no sunny pictures. Still, I enjoyed myself greatly.

This bath, though being restored, seemed to be open. It dates from the time the later Sultan Yildirim Beyazit - who ordered it built - was still a prince, 1382. Omar Bin Ibrahim was its architect. A notice praises it as an original examploe of early Ottoman bath. In particular the "dome transitions" in the interior are special.
