Cuirassed portrait bust of Roman emperor Antoninus Pius (86-161 AD).
Found at Prusias ad Hypium, now Konuralp. Dating from the Antonine Dynasty period, mid-2nd century AD. During the emperor’s rein he fought no major war, but the empire was at the peak of political power and prosperity. He wears a beard of a type his predecessor Hadrian (who adopted him in 138 AD as successor). His face is individualist. He wears the general’s paludamentum (a cloak).
