In a next phase, deseneme, a design is put on the biscuit. The way I see it done is by putting a design on paper with needle holes in it on the surface, then pressing a charcoal-loaded object on the paper, so traces will be visible after removing the paper. I think other techniques may be used.
Next the patterns are filled in with a kind of paint (a bit like a childs colouyr book, but with awful precision and technique) that when heated may change colour considerably.
