A notice has “Bu bölgede bulunan gecekonduların tamamı belediyemizce kaldırılarak, gecekondu dönüşüm projesi cerçevesinde tokiye yaptırılan ko(erased] tas[…] mıştır”. I think it indicates the “gecekondular” (houses built without permission but allowed to remain due some particular law) are not being erased but reconstructed. If so I applaud this Toki initiative, because these dwellings give places a special flavor that would be lost if modern apartment blocks were built instead.
