Ankara june 2011 6701.jpg

On the picture: Altars, taken by the Byzantines from temples in the ancient Roman city, when they built the inner citadel in the 7th century AD. Under the altars, one can also see four statues of Priapos, inserted horizontally.

(From Wikipedia:) In Greek mythology, Priapus or Priapos (Ancient Greek: Πρίαπος), was a minor rustic fertility god, protector of livestock, fruit plants, gardens and male genitalia. Priapus is marked by his absurdly oversized, permanent erection, which gave rise to the medical term priapism.
