Letoon Church apsis 5345.jpg

view map

The apsis of the church, we see the temples to the north (left) and the typical "stairs" in the round arc. The position of the column is curious as it woudl obstruct view, but maybe necessary for stability.
A picture of a Byzantine church. It has three naves, spolia from temples were used as usual. The church dates from the 6th century AD, there are mosaics that when I visited were covered. In "On the Lycian Way" it is suggested that the nearby temple was not destroyed but used as an annex to the church.
