At the museum, north of the Selimiye and well-worth a visit.
The scene represents a (to be?) circumcised boy and his entourage.
The dress of this lady consists in two parts: a skirt (‘etek’) and a blouse (‘gömlek’).
Its fashion is from Izmir (urban style, late 19th and early 20th century).
It is called ‘iki parçalı bindallı elbise’ (= two-piece dress in bindallı style), and is adorned with gold thread embroidery (handmade, of course) on satin.
‘Bindallı’ means: ‘with thousand branches’, because the decorative motifs on the dress consist mainly of branches with leaves and flowers.
