The hill north of the hill holding the citadel, across a busy street, had for years gecekondular. A word that is often translated as slums, generally self-built. Over the years they were improved a it, but at some point it became clear they were doomed. In fact in 2025 Google shows an empty hill, except for a mosque. And on the web one can find this will be turned into “ankara metropolitan municipality's gift for 100 years: Hidirliktepe Recreation Area and Gratitude Monument”. Part will be an endemic plants area, cultural terrace gardens, city archive and stone museum, handicraft area, international youth camp, amphitheater and Hıdırellez fire viewing point. With a height of 65.5 meters the 100th Year Gratitude Monument will consist of two towers with a distance of 3.6 meters that will be built in the center. I do not know it the plans have been executed. My pictures show the old situation.
