The Wikipedia informs us: “Cambazlı is a village in Silifke district of Mersin Province. It is situated in the plateau to the south of the Taurus Mountains. The to distance to Silifke is 30 kilometres (19 mi) and to Mersin is 85 kilometres (53 mi). The population of Canbazlı is 729 as of 2011.” and: “Cambazlı was an important settlement during the early Byzantine age. It is on the road connecting Uzuncaburç (Diocæsarea) to Kızkalesi (Corycus), both important ancient settlements.” This text made me write Can.. instead of Cam..., I corrected this in 2020. In 2015 I visited the place knowing it has a church of a basilica design with three naves, it dates from the second half of the 5th century. The columns with Corinth type headings in the southern side as well as the apse a part of the walls are standing; but the columns in the northern side have been demolished. There also are a few monumental graves from the Roman era, one of them very well preserved of a temple-like design. It seems to be a heroon.
I made the church a sub-gallery of the gallery containing the grave momuments.
