This is one of three original Samurai gaurdhouses remaining in the Imperial Palace complex. The Ote-mon Gate seen in a previous photo was the main entrance to the original castle during the early 1600's to the mid 1800's. Samurai warriors stationed at this guardhouse inspected all visitors entering the gate.
