The wall surrounding the Old City was built by the Turks in the mid 1500’s. The tall tower structure on the right is now known as the Tower of David. But it was built by the Turks in the 1300’s. At that time, the Tower of David was a minaret – used to call Muslims to daily prayers. The Tower of David is surrounded by the Citadel – an area where once stood three towers built by King Herod.
