SMC finished the '09 season in style, sweeping Franklin Pierce with a dramatic extra-inning 4-3 win in the opener and then rolling to a 13-1 victory in game 2. Hillary had a strong start in game 1 with MegO coming on the get the win in relief -- and then MegO hurled a complete game in the nightcap, striking out 3 in the final inning to collect her second W on the day. AshleyH had 4 hits and scored 3 times in game 1; MegO had two doubles; and MegC drove in MegO with the game winner on a double of her own in the 8th. Ash stayed hot in game 2, going 3-3 with 3 runs scored; KateC crushed a HR; and Kate, Hillary, and MegC all added two hits. Kate added a run, an RBI, and a pair of sacrifices on the day.

AshleyH and MegO put exclamation points on what are likely SMC Hall of Fame careers, as Ash went 7-for-7 to capture the single season and career hits records -- and MegO set the season mark for RBIs and added 3 more to her career record for doubles. Amazing. You two have been fun to watch!!

Quite a year for the Purple Knights -- enjoying a good start in Florida, persevering through a tough first half of NE-10 play, and then seeing their persistence pay off with a strong finish to the season. This team never quit, always supported each other, and were a joy to watch. Their 12 wins on the season gives them the 5th most in program history - most ever for a "non Meggan Roberge team". Kate had some nice offensive numbers, despite diminished speed with the sprained ankle for 2nd half of season: led team in sacrifices; 2nd on team in triples and steals; 3rd on team in hits; 4th on team in batting average ... Bravo!
