The SMC Purple Knights opened their 2009 season with two hard-fought battles against a strong Dominican College team. A Dominican grand slam broke open a close game in the opener, and SMC fell 9-0. The Purple Knights bounced right back in game 2, serving up a thrilling back and forth thriller that Dominican eventually won 10-8 in the 7th -- SMC got the tieing run to the plate, but couldn't pull out the win. Kater had a triple and double and scored three runs in the second game...
