Standing guard

I walked up the street next to the deputy at the barricade and then down the street directly behind the house. Neighbors were out in the front yards, standing on porches, but said they had been told to go inside. Curiosity always wins out.
One woman invited me to come in when she found out I was with a newspaper - and I ended up sitting with her 12 year old nephew on their sunporch almost directly behind where the SWAT team had set up the outer perimeter.
I tried to take a few photos of them, but they wore camouflage and were hidden well enough in the bushes that I didn't spot them until one used a small mirror on a stick to look at the house without breaking his position. The sunlight glinted off the mirror and that's when I saw them.
The 12 year old, Jesse, told me he'd been outside playing 'monkey in the middle' when police pulled up and "a guy with a gun told us to go inside and stay there." He stayed inside, but curiosity won here too and he spent the next two hours watching out the sunporch window.
