I've long wanted to see a tree-swift.
At Danum Valley I finally found them - and not just found them but got so close. What handsome birds!
This guy was perched on the swing bridge over Sungai (River) Segama.
From this perch it would search for prey (small flying insects) then launch out in pursuit; quite different behaviour to that of 'normal' swifts and swiftlets that hawk constantly like swallows.
Tree-swifts are not closely related to swifts.
