Metallic Starling at nest

Apologies for the poor photo, but I thought the subject was interesting.
Metallic Starlings build their bulky nests colonially. There were dozens in this large tree and it was a hive of activity.
These starlings inhabit tropical rainforests but are quite at home in tropical gardens as well. They eat mainly fruit but also some insects.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Those nests do look large. Must be very supple strong branches to hold them.

Do these huge nests have an effect on the tree? I know that nests certainly
kill parts of a rose bush. What huge nests these are for such a small bird!
