the Gorge and Red Rock

best viewed at original size

The lava flow through which the gorge has cut filled the valley, forming a flat-layered surface.
Adjacent, more ancient hills remained; here the granite boulders of Red Rock still lightly clad by morning mist.

Lovely early morning feeling here with the soft colours. Interesting how the lava left such an even layer.

Great light on the early morning misted red hillside. Love the foreground tree.
