Einasleigh River pools

best viewed at original size

The river ceases to flow during the dry season, but many pools remain.

In response to Gill's comment and query, the rocks are possibly granite boulders, and the trees are the Narrow-leaved River Paperbark (Melaleuca fluviatilis).
This tree grows along the levee banks of lowland tropical seasonal rivers. It can withstand fast-flowing freshwater and being inundated for considerable periods. In this photo, you can see the downstream lean on the trees.

A quite interesting image of the pools. Can clearly see the lean to the trees. Must be an enormous amount of water flow at times. Well composed and shot. V

A beautiful quiet scene, probably not quite as serene when the river's in full flood! Love the river-smoothed dark rocks.
