hot spring travertine dams

Water bubbles out of the earth at 68dC. The pond walls are travertine, a dense limestone formed by precipitation of calcium carbonate from the hot water.

Amazes me how the grasses survive in water of that temperature... I've seen
this also in springs up in the Marree area SA. v
