Abstract Expressionism is a phrase that describes this style of painting as not representing "anything" in particular.
It usually represents moods, feelings or "non-representational expressions" of the artist.
Some say Abstract art is a "cop-out" for artists who can't draw and just throw, splash or wipe paint on a canvas...
and call it art. I can attest to the fact that to get pleasing or acceptable results is anything but easy.
It has been some of my most difficult experiences in art.
