I was stationed as a seaman with the U. S. Coast Guard at a 19-man search and rescue station (Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet) on Peanut Island from April 1967 to December 1967 when I was promoted to YN3 and transferred to recruiting duty in Tampa, FL. I visited the Peanut Island CG station in the 1950s. True to CG tradition, there was a blue enamel pot of coffee simmering on the stove 24/7. Too bad the CG left.
