In Memoriam - Ray Measner

Ray Measner was a true gentleman and I always enjoyed talking with him at Miami International Airport when he was the long-time station manager for Delta Airlines. He was a shining star of all the station managers that I dealt with and fun to talk to at the many parties that we attended over the years.

Thanks to all of you who have posted here. Found this sight by accident while doing a search for "Measner" Dad loved Delta, and whenever we spoke on the phone after he retired, Delta was always the main topic of conversation. Thanks to all of you again. Jim Measner.

I just found this site while searching for Milt Herlong relative to the death of Dick Judy, Ex Dir of DCAD, this week. If anyone has contact info for Milt please send to J.E.Rose@comcast.net. I was in Properties for Delta from 1969 to 1993 and dealt with Milt, Ray Measner, Jim RObertson, Art Racicot and many others at MIA, all of whom were great guys and embodied the old Delta spirit and attitude. I cleaned planes over at NAL/PAA in the early 80s, but had a few friends on the ramp, agents, etc., at DAL. Ray Measner was a helluva guy. His name and signature were on a few non-rev passes I used back in the day. All the DAL friends I had spoke very highly of Ray.

My dad, Jim Robertson, worked for Delta for 46 years. He and Ray left some great memories for us kids, Delta picnics, softball games and many years of league bowling. They were great times with great people who are sorely missed.

Kevin-My name is Chuck Garbett. Please say hello to your grandfather for me. I worked at the Country Club of Miami when your grandfather lived there. He brought me into Delta--I was 22 years old. Being young and stupid--I left a little over a year later. I have regreted my leaving for 35 years! He is one great man--was loved by everyone at Delta! All my best!

Milton Herlong is my Grandfather and he is still alive and well living in Florida on the beach with my Mimi and they have now been married 65 years !!

My Dad, Ren Norton, worked for Delta in Miami. I remember Ray Measner's name being spoken around the house. My husband, also a Delta employee who started in Miami, remembers him fondly as well.

I worked for both Milton Herlong and Ray at Delta in the early 70's. They both were true "southern gentlemen"--had high standards--but treated their employees with total respect. I'm sure Milton has also passed--if anyone has some info on him--please post a comment.

RIP Ray.... It was my honor and pleasure to know you....

My Dad worked with Ray in Delta Operations way back when Milton Herlong was the Station Manager. I remember Ray being a nice guy and a good bowler to boot.
