I think this is one of the reasons a lot of people resent the Miami political attitude. This stadium represented part of Miami's "soul." A vast number of residents remember at least one event they attended at the Orange Bowl at some point in their life. It represented so much to so many, and was a very historical part of the city. Instead of taking care of it and maintaining it properly, they tore it down and sold pieces of it like cheap souvenirs at a gift shop. It's true, Miami has no sense of its own history, and sadder yet, no one seems to care. In Miami, the almighty dollar rules.

This is the saddest photo in the whole world, to those of us who grew up in Old Miami. For the Stings, 'Canes and Dolphins (AFL era) fans, it makes us cry.

I cried when they tore down the venerable, Miami Orange Bowl. What a shame! I was in the Orange Bowl Parade in 1966(7 yrs old) dressed as a Washington Redskins football player. Mark Lindsay, from Paul Revere & the Raiders was lip synching their latest hit right next to me on the float. It was hilarious when the P.A. speaker system went out right as we came to the reviewing stands(and TV cameras)! My dad took me to the 2nd Super Bowl(Green Bay & Oakland). He was a member of the Orange Bowl Committee(Malcolm MacNeill) as was my grandfather(Bruce MacIntosh). We saw some amazing games over the years. My favorite was Miami & Nebraska in 1984 when we won our 1st National Championship. I was also at the last game ever played by UofM, when they were trounced. I loved parking in the surrounding neighborhoods and walking in towards the stadium as I smelled all the different grills with cookouts going on, there was always an electricity in the air at those games!

So typical of what Miami has become. Our local history has no value to our political " leaders" How sad.

We had a great aunt and uncle that lived directily across the street from the old Orange Bowl and we used to park at their house and walk across the street to the Dolphin games as we had season tickets. Those were the days...we also used to watch the Dolphins practice at some field over in Carol City? My grandmother used to take us as kids...

Wow!...I used to go the OB and watch soccer games from the old NASL (North American Soccer League, Miami Gatos/Toros)..then attend the football games of Miami High and UM.
So sad to see this landmark gone.

Wow. I have a lot of memories of the Orange Bowl. Our high school (Miami Norland) played games in the Bowl as well as I marched in the 1970 Orange Bowl Game. I also saw a few Dolphin games bs (before Shula) as well as Hurricane games.
