I was at MMA in 6th grade during Cuban Missle crisis. Kids were quitely leaving all through the night while jets flew non stop. None of us had any idea what was going on. No heaters and no ac in the barricks. Lived in B barricks, called the baby barricks because we were the youngest ones there. Hated Major Rhone.

Steve Brander 1962-1963. Currently live in Central Valley, N.Y (near West Point)......., I remember Major Delarosa, Maj. Twomey(sp.?) Cadet Capt. Pete Giorgione, Randy Hughes, Rick Burch. We all lived in Reed Hall (Drum and Bugle Corps.) with me and Pete Walker and Charlie Greenberg. Iggy Cosentino lived in the Rotunda. Right outside the main gate was the Apache Motel. I've been trying to get in touch with anyone from back then. I do remember the folded mattresses and a few guys ...just went awol. Terry Corkerton blowing Taps and Revele......

Warren Blanck 58-59, 59-60 7th and 8th grade. Recognized Leo Schnupp in pix, Major Delarosa was my science teacher. He had everything in the world in his backyard. We would make fun of "Major Delarosa's backyard" Lived in Rotunda, East barracks, and shithole without windows just east of Biscayne Blvd. Woke up one morning and all the wealthy Cubans were gone. Beds stripped, lockers empty, and mattresses folded in half. Time when Castro took over. very eerie.
