My father had minor surgery in that hospital about 1956 and it was 7th day Adventist. Also, a high school mate had a motorcycle accident near the high school and was admitted into that hospital.

I had my tonsils taken out there in 1958 and my room was the double window right in the middle of this picture. I remember looking out the window when I stood up in the bed, it was next to the outside wall. My dad was Dr. Roy but of course had to have his friend Dr. Snodgrass do the surgery. I can still remember the green 5" tiles on the walls of the operating room and the nurse putting the knock out mask on my face, she said count to ten but I did not make it. Ate a lot of ice cream that week but it didn't stop the pain, one of those things that's still a vivid memory.

Believe it was a Seventh Day Adventist Church starting out. My friends wife broke her arm and they took her there on Saturday, she had to wait to have it set until Sunday. They made more additions to the hospital and the building you see were built around. They are still inside the Current Hialeah Hospital, there is a basement there.

My late primary physician, Dr. Oliver Anderson, of 20+ yrs was one of its original founders. It was him and another doctor whose name skips me right now. May he RIP. HH celebrated its 60th Anniv in 2011. He died in 2012-2013 and was in his late 90's. He was truly the best. Miss him.

I remember trying to visit my father here in about 1957 or so. Had to sneak in the back door because you couldn't visit unless you were 12. I'd always get caught by the nurses.

Amy- it is smaller than you remember. The old two story building to the right of center was the original hospital, and the new additions pretty well obliterated it.

My sister was born here in 1967 and my brother in 1969. Looks smaller than I remember - - isn't that always the way??!!?? :)
