Miami Marine Stadium at sunset (see below)

Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida

The Miami Marine Stadium was once the venue to numerous entertainment acts and boat races. It was damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and has been allowed to deteriorate in the weather and the onslaught of vandals and graffiti artists. It was recently added as a historic site by the City of Miami's Preservation Board and hopefully be restored and reopened to the public who paid for it to begin with.

An organization has been formed to persuade public officials to restore the stadium and re-open it to the public who paid for it originally. Please visit http://www.marinestadium.org/ to learn more.

The great City of Miami Commission got this stadium condemned after Andrew trying to lier developers in. The only thing is the stadium was still structurally sound. The developers faded away, this great structure only needed repairs and there it sits rotting away. Thanks City of Miami.

Didn't the Greater Miami Philharmonic have summer concerts here? I remember going out to see some wonderful concerts there. I am sure the musicians didn't like having to play in the salt air, especially the string players.

In the late 1960's I attended many hydroplane races here as an ambulance attendant with Randall-Eastern ambulance company. Fortunately, there were no accidents.
