This flight diverted into MIA around 6 a.m. near the end of my midnight shift while it was enroute from somewhere in South America to Canada. I was the only gate controller on duty so I assigned them a gate close to my office. Since they didn't have a handling company at MIA I marshalled the aircraft onto the gate. Because the ramp agents on duty were not jetbridge qualified I put the bridge onto the aircraft so the crew and passengers could get off into the international intransit lounge.
