The stairs were originally solid oak, but these tenants had totally destroyed them. I don't know how...it escapes me how they could have been cracked, gouged and barely sufficient for travel between two floors. I nailed everything down after applying a liberal dose of glue to each tread, then found a remnant that wouldn't show dirt.
