4363 Green Frog ("Boing Frog") at Holland

Holand Ponds

We have been calling this the "boing frog". It is abundant at Holland, and just "boings". We have been hearing it almost every outing for awhile. We had thought it a much larger frog - maybe a bullfrog, but we finally saw one and caught it in the act! ID provided/verified - see comments.

Green Frog (Rana clamitans) This is a male. You can tell because the ear tympanum is much larger than the eye. Also, the belly is yellow. The female has a white belly and the ear is about the same size as the eye.
