Halfway on the trail to Morte Lake (where our dog loves to swim)
is Little Morte Lake, a bit of which can be seen through the trees.

There are terrible fires and a heat wave in California. Southern
British Columbia was hit by a severe wind storm yesterday and today
they have smoke from the fires in the US. But the weather on Quadra
Island has been unbelievably nice. Time to count one's blessings.
I hope things get better to the south.

a gorgeous scene, all the more to be admired with your clean air...hazy and smoky down in Vancouver, but apparently Victoria is worse, the smoke wafting across the strait from Midway on the Olympic peninsula..
